TeacherLink is the Greater Philadelphia region’s successful teacher recruitment initiative. Focusing on recruitment, training, and retention, TeacherLink helps prepare you and place you in the classroom. We recruit potential teachers from the Jewish community at large some of whom are already teaching in secular schools or other settings, others of whom are pursuing unrelated professions and offer the rewarding opportunity of becoming involved in Jewish education. You can register at no cost on Morim Match, our exclusive computerized teacher placement database, and your name, qualifications, and job preferences are circulated to school directors throughout the region.
We offer basic and advanced educational seminars that sharpen your Jewish knowledge and teaching know-how. The Giborim program is geared to new recruits and novice teachers who want to explore their role as a teacher, upgrade their communication skills, develop a portfolio of effective instructional materials, learn to plan lessons, and manage a class. The Giborim Plus series of seminars will show you how to teach Hebrew, Bible, prayer, and holidays. Participants who are teaching receive certificates of completion and a generous stipend.
Once you accept a job, we stay connected! The Rabbi Samuel T. Lachs Mentor Program pairs new teachers with seasoned, caring mentors who can answer questions and add extra understanding and insight to those challenging first few years of teaching. The Novice Teacher Support Programs are a series of education/support seminars, led by an experienced educator, that allow new and novice teachers to discuss their concerns with colleagues. In addition, you can earn a generous stipend.
Philadelphia area college students are especially encouraged to explore how TeacherLink can help them find jobs while pursuing their education. The Giborim training program may even be offered on campus! And, students who attend area day or supplementary high schools can learn about opportunities in Jewish education and have the opportunity to be part of a special effort to help them find jobs wherever they attend college.
If you – or someone you know – would like to share the love of Judaism with the next generation, please let us know. Connect with students, give back to the community, and affect the future of Judaism.
