Early Childhood Education

Advocacy and Lay Committees

Policy and advocacy development through the community Board of License and the Personnel Initiatives in Jewish Education Policy and Advocacy Initiatives are also important aspects of the Auerbach CAJE early childhood effort. An area salary scale has been established and is updated yearly to reflect changes in professional development requirements and the economy. The Community Board of License, in conjuction with the National Board of License, has set a course of license qualifications and standards that relate to the levels on the salary scale. Through special funding from the Norma F. Furst Personnel Initiatives in Jewish Education Fund of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, stipends are available to teachers for participation in AUERBACH CAJE-sponsored professional development.

The AUERBACH CAJE Commission on Jewish Early Childhood Education works to promote the ongoing benefits provided by early childhood education. The Commission also advocates methods for supporting, and encourages continued growth and community gain of, Jewish early childhood programs. The Commission has surveyed parents of children exiting Jewish early childhood programs to ascertain the benefits that parents perceive in these programs and the impact Jewish early childhood education has had on these parents' decisions regarding continuing their ties to the Jewish community and continuing their children's Jewish education. The results of these surveys are available below:
